Go to www.rvschool.com maybe Dennis Hill has someone that can teach you in your area. Dan is in Yuma AZ and we'll head to WA in May for the Summer. Most of the students we have come to us where ever we are. We keep Dennis informed where we are so if someone calls and we are close by we get to teach that student. One time we arrived at a campground and did not know that our student was camped right across from us! Boy that made it nice!!

Hi, I am told Practice, Practice and Practice. :-) I am still Practicing. It takes me a few (maybe more)times to get it parked. :-)

This subject is very interesting to me. I don't have a problem with my travel trailer except backing up. I have to back down my drive and I alway request a pull thru camp site. I'm in Quartzsite until April but I will be visiting in Yuma the first week of April. I need a lesson. In looking at the RV driving school website, do I just need a mini lesson? Advice please.

You could ask Dennis, Dan did have one guy with a travel trailer and that's exactly what Dan taught him was backing but it was not a mini lesson. You'll have to talk it over with Dennis, so far no students are scheduled in April so that is good for you. So talk with him first, we cannot take in students till we have a confirmation, oops Dan said if you want it he can arrange it to teach you.

Dennis will tell you the prices and if you can get a mini lesson or whatever.....hope we can help you out.

Hi Carolyn!! Glad you made it here to our Forum!!! You are so very welcome.

I've been an RVer for a long time, and although I've driven a lot, I seldom did any of the parking. Milt did that, but since he's been ill, he's seen to it I do the backing in and parking too. He always backed the trailers in, and then I connected water and electricity while he did the rest....and I'd go on inside and begin the inside "parking chores".

You are so right, practice, practice, practice and it gets easier each time. I must confess I'm not as particular that the unit be "straight" to the patio as Milt is....if it's close and the steps "fit it"....it's OK..... Grin.

Again...a big Welcome to you Carolyn!!! Come back often so we can get to know you!

Happy Travels!

Joella

Carolyn - starting with a 34' fifth wheel is not exactly the weenie way to start out! Give yourself a break woman! And yes, practice, practice, practice. I'm fine with my little motorhome, can do a dandy job with a 22' tow trailer, am useless with a tent trailer (needs too much finesse) and I'm not very good with my fifth wheel! I'm not awful, and I always get where I'm going, but I yearn to just pull beside a site - size it up and put it in. I mean if these guys can do it with huge 18 wheelers, why can't I? Probably still missing the most important ingredient - patience. Welcome aboard - life is good here!

Thanks See_yagal, I've already e-mailed for info, hubby loves the idea!

Thanks again, just what we needed!

And thanks to all who responded....guess I'm not the only one with a little anxiety over this!

Dan taught a gal ( wife) to drive her 35 ft 5th wheel with a Mid Duty truck yesterday and today, she backed it in our driveway really good and celebrated with the glass of bubbley afterwards wooooohoooo!! Edith was on cloud 9 to get it in backwards by herself which is not a easy task with a Mid duty truck!! Richard her hubby was really proud of her!!!

We have another gal (wife)with a 5th wheel & mid duty truck on Sunday

He has 6 lessons lined up for March! I need a automatic gate opener we have been opening and closeing them so much!!

Well Jenny, you can look at it 2 ways...(1) all of that business gives you just that much more money to go do what you love....traveling and shopping for neat stuff for the casita..and... (2) keeps Dan busy and out of your way so you can go do what you love...shopping for neat stuff for the casita! LOL!

Sharon - Either way it's a win win for Jenny! And might just pay for that gate opener! LOL
