Easy Find Medicine Bottles

You have a headache and decide to take some Tylenol, you look in the medicine cabinet and see lots of small bottles on the shelf, held back with a bar. Apart from having to rummage around for the Tylenol, you notice there's a lot of unused space above the little bottles. In lieu of installing an extra shelf, here's a solution for both problems.

Attach a 4" length of industrial strength Velcro along the top edge of the shelf's back wall. Then cut small pieces of Velcro and attach them to the backs of the small bottles. Now the small bottles are stuck to the cabinet wall in a higher position, making them more visible and easily found. This also frees up space on the actual shelf for other things. Write the new expiration dates on the old bottles and reuse them. Alternatively, cut another small piece of Velcro for each new bottle you buy.

Do you have an RV tip to add?

Happy RVing!

Joella

Thanks Joella, that's a great one! My husband said it would take a lot of velcro for all his meds!!!

Nope, don't have anything to share....yet, but give me a month in our new TT and I might add something!

Joella,

Love that tip. The cabinet in my bathroom is too small for any of the wire shelves or racks I use in other ones and it drives me crazy to see all that wasted space. Now I need to figure out a better way to store towels and washcloths. I was wondering if one of those sock sorter things shaped like a bunch of x's might work with rolled up towels. Oh well, I'll figure something out.

Velcro was definitely my friend when I lived in my RV -

Those 3M removable strips are great and they have allot of different hooks and containers now.

I bought a couple of those plastic shoe organizers (the kind that hang on a door) I cut them into individual strips and sometimes just individual pockets and velcro'd them in cabinets and behind the cabinet doors - great for storing smallish items. I also bought a material shoe organizer and hung it inside the bathroom door - I used it to store just about everything.

For towels, I used a basket to hold them, I found one that fit under the sink and it worked pretty well. I had a storage ottoman I used in the livingroom (instead of a coffee table) and stored my extra sheets in it - it would have worked for towel too.

I bought a small kitchen cart that had a butcher block top and 3 drawers - it was great for extra counter space and I stored my kitchen towels and my storage containers and all the aluminum foil and ziploc "stuff" -

If you buy extra "furniture" be sure it fits in the RV when you pull in the slides - I even took out the recliners and bought a nice comfy chair that was smaller and lighter weight. It was so hard for me to maneuver those recliners to fit when I pulled in the slides and I seldom sat in them.

I have pretty much, put all my tips on some time ago. I do love those Command hooks for all sorts of things. Think most of you put an extra shower rod across the top of your shower to hang wet things. With the way it is raining right now, my raincoat will go there after I pick Maggie up from the groomer.

What I would like from all of you is a tip on .........an easy way to change the sheets on your bed. My bed is a queen, with the head snugly fit between two deep nightstands. I am a sweating and a grumbling by the time I'm finished. Not a pretty site!!! A few weeks ago, I even turned the mattress. Boy was that a chore. It was the first time I ever did it, and frankly, probably the last time. I was stiff for days.

Karen - if your bed is on the kind of 'frame' that is more like a platform - the kind you can maybe lift up to get to storage - I've discovered the only way to do it is to slide the mattress off the bottom end so you give yourself more space at the top. It takes pushing it around some - but my hands are so bad I couldn't do sheets at home by myself - but have discovered that with some effort I CAN do them in the rig! Now if you can't slide your mattress down and away from the nightstands - obviously all bets are off. LOL

Kerry, I already do that, but the nightstands jut out 26 in. and I only have 12" at foot of bed. Very tight squeeze. It doesn't bother me most of the time as I only sleep there, but....changing the sheets is a real pain.

I bought a couple of those things you hang in closests to hold sweaters, etc. and one meant for shoes and hung them in the big closest across from the fridge. I think it was meant to be for clothes but I needed a pantry and the rod was there. I keep all kinds of dried products - crackers, rice, packaged mixes, in them.
