Vicki

A brake buddy senses when you apply the MH brakes, and either by hydraulics, or electronically, applies the brake in your toad. Very useful when going down big hills with an under-braked MH, or a big-a** toad! Keeps the tail from wagging the dog. I think Wranglers are in the 3000 pound range - not exactly light-weights! When I towed Mark's Wrangler with my wimpy GMC I sure would have liked a brake buddy! On the bucket list for when I get to take little summer jaunts in my 'cottage' - as opposed to the 'condo'!

I know this is a dumb question but it fits the topic. When you get the tow bar and brake buddy they go in/on the car not the rig correct? So you only need to transfer if you trade rigs? I'm hoping to do so this year also if I an earn a few $$ to pay for it.

Kelpie, the tow bar slides into the receiver hitch on your MH. When you un-hitch it folds up and out of the way. There are 2 braces on your tow vehicle that it connects to. There are tow bars that attach to your car and stay on it, but I didn't want that kind. When I'm not traveling, I just slide the tow bar out of the receiver and store it in the garage. The Brake Buddy sits on the floor of the driver's side and when you un-hitch, just take it out and put it in the trunk or back of the vehicle.

One thing that has not been covered in this discussion is the weight rating on your receiver-hitch. Make sure that it is rated to pull the weight of your tow car. Some that come from the factory are rated so light that about all you can safely tow is a light weight trailer for motorcycles or something. Might be kind of in-convenient if you're going down the road and the whole shebang falls off of your rv. LOL!

I went to an RV store today and looked at the tow bar so I feel a little more comfortable. I didn't know it could be taken completely off so maybe I can still get something added to transport the scooter when I'm not towing. This place also had a much better price for everything. About $600 better. Camping World never called me back so they aren't interested in business I guess.
