Karen - sounds like you are going to have a good winter where you are at. You sound like you are a really open type person. I would have trouble making friends like that. I tend to stay by myself too much and then wonder why I don't have friends. Oh well, I am trying to change.

Trudy - Good luck with the possible job change. I think it takes a brave person to try something different. I have worked in basically the same job (or profession) for going on 43 years now. Don't get me wrong, I really like what I do, but I always really wanted to work in the medical field. But once I started working in agriculture it was hard to leave the money and safety of the job.

Today after work I am going to help my sister at her new house. The movers come with the first load of furniture at 3:00 today and I have been assigned organizing the kitchen. Then on Saturday the last load arrives and we will be working the rest of the day getting things put away. That will still leave all the furniture, boxes and art that are stored all over my house to get moved. It will happen but not right away. On Sunday us four girls (funny, we still call ourselves girls, it sounds like we are teenagers) are going to Mom and Dads house to hopefully get it finished cleaned out for the closing on the 30th. I have a feeling a lot of it will just go into storage at my shed and we will deal with it later. Or some one will find it when I die and they will have to worry about it! Have a good day and weekend.

I posted the recipe for Orange Kiss Me Cake. As I have said, it is a from scratch cake, but it is so good you will be glad you tried it. You won't find this one in a box.

Casadedi, do they have any craft classes. You can go to learn something new and make friends that way. Or perhaps you have a talent and are willing to share it. Pot lucks are always a good way to meet people. I just go up to a table that has empty seats and ask if the seat is saved for anyone. I have never had anyone say the seat is reserved, usually they say it is saved for me. Course, this is a very friendly bunch of people, mostly retired people who come for the winter. It could be completely different in the summer months. I have a dog and I have met a lot of people walking her. She is so friendly that people all seem to want to pet her. Volunteering is also an excellent way to meet people. There are a lot of people just looking for someone to do things with. Even the married women, like to go shopping and lunch. I think it is especially true when you are living in such small places, that couples need some time away from each other. Just some thoughts.

Thanks for the cake receipe - I may give it a try. I've only made one cake from scratch and that was a long time ago, I do remember it being excellent though.

Sheila, I love the box idea ! Sounds like it could be a great idea for my neices and nephews - I'll have to check out the craft store next week.
