Good for you, Lenora!

Here's another kind of adapter. Camping World has them for less than $10, and lots of Wal Marts carry RV stuff also. The thing to remember is that it needs that special grounding prong. In fact, if you're going to keep it plugged in all the time and want to make extra-sure that you don't have trouble you might consider a surge protector. You could check with the folks at the storage place to see what they recommend.

Be careful about leaving your RV plugged in all the time. Some units you can---- some you can't. We once got a new RV and in a short while burned up the batteries.. We had always left ours plugged in 24/7. A leading cause of battery failure is overcharging. If your converter doesn't have a 3 state charger the battery gets a constant charge of 13.5 volts, and when completely charged this voltage is too high for a float charge and boils off the battery water in time, and ruins the battery. When we burned up our batteries, I asked why you can stay in one plugged in all the time, but not store one like that. They said when staying in one you are constantly 'using power" too...not just building/storing it. Good lesson learned a hard and expensive way that leaving a RV plugged in all the time during storage is not always a good idea.

Do you have a batter disconnect switch on your motor home? Our trailer has none. We play it safe by not plugging our trailer in. The first of every month, we plug into electricity for 24 hours to charge the batteries..and we run the a/c for an hour. Since you have a generator, would be good to unplug from electricity and run your generator for two hours under a load--- like your a/c running. You can kill two birds with one stone and get the exercise both a/c and generator need to keep them well lubricated.

I hope your electric plug has enough power to run things other than a battery charger.... Get one of these to check it:

AC Voltage Meter

If it is in the green area....you can run a/c etc. You can find these AC Voltage meters for about $15, and they are good to have to check quality of electricity in the RV parks you stay in. A/C would come in handy for cleaning your motorhome on those hot days. Also when you are going on a trip....we always turn on our refrigerator 24 hours in advance and run on electricity to pre-cool it. Good too to be able to vacuum and all the other cleaning things one needs electricity for. Check it out, perhaps your plug at storage will support more.

Did you sleep last night at all....or were you too wound up? Grin..

Happy RV dreaming!!

Joella

Ok, it's been one looooong day here! Went bowling first thing. Afterward went straight to the auto licensing place to get the RV titled in my name. First thing she says is I need to see the emissions test certificate. WHAT?? Yep, starting in '04 some cities in WA now require these every other year!! CHIT! So I make a trip to the RV and check all cubbie holes thinking prehaps it's had it's test and the paper is somewhere around. No such luck! So I'm still not sure about driving through the city by myself for the first time and call my Son in law 30 miles away. He was sweet enough to come and drive me and my Little Missy to get her checked out. She passed with flying colors!! Thank you, that will be $15!

AFter we leave there my SIL says, you need to drive this thing. As soon as I can pull over you're driving. My knees start to tremble but I agree. I fully trust him helping me. So I get behind the wheel and start off and he unbuckles his seatbelt and starts nosing around the RV!! Hey, get back up here in your seat mister!! There was a whistle he wanted to see where it was coming from. The back door has a small spot in the very top corner and letting in air as we drive. Ok, I start taking backroads (pretty narrow) and the first vehicle coming toward me is a flippin' school bus! I think I actually closed my eyes as we passed. I was all ready to hear my outside mirror crashing off!! But nope, I did good. In fact I drove it all the way back to the storage unit where my SIL made me back it into the space. Not once, but 5 times. So now I know exactily when to start my turn to swing it around etc. I was so please I was grinning all the way home!!

I did manage to take some pictures but my SIL was in the Rv and kept saying he didn't want his pictures shared with my RV friends! lol So in some I'm holding the camera a bit cockeyed. Sorry. Ok I'll post the pictures separate and I think most of them speak for themselves!!

Door's open, come on in! I forgot to take pics of the bathroom It's behind the door just to the left of the stove.

kitchen, lol, duh!

swinging on to the right is the sofa. I have the windshield bonnet on so the sun shining through makes it yellow like that.

continuing my pan to the right etc etc

I have no idea why photobucket saved this at this size. I save all the pics as one download.

Facing the bathroom door. To the left of that is the wardrobe and drawers (which is directly to the left as you enter the RV.
other side and then the last picture is a close up of the sofa fabric that I really like.
And there you have it!! Ain't she purty?!?! LOL

Lenora, she's beautiful! You got yourself a true gem! And good for your SIL making you drive and back her in. It's your rig, you know ... ;)

Now for the fun part -- making her uniquely your own! And planning your first trip. Dreams do come true, don't they!

Thanks for sharing with us. We'll look forward to seeing how you outfit her!
