I finally got my afghan finished that I started in January. It started out as something to do on the way to Quartzsite. Just random granny squares from scrap yarn. Then when we got the new rig, I got more organized. Still just piddled around but I finally got through this morning. Arms a little achy but heck, its done. Here it is.

Very nice, Louise! I haven't done a granny square in many years but it is the one i learned to crochet on. I love how all the squares are different, too.

Good Job, Louise!!! We always enjoy seeing our Sisters Crafty accomplishments.. Thanks so much for sharing!

Like Alice, I've not done granny squares --- or any crocheting in years. So many things can be accomplished with granny squares. GREAT looking afghan!!

Happy RVing!

Very nice! Love the neutral colors. I recognize the one granny square, but what is the waffle looking one? Kinda neat. Is there a name for the square so I could google it and get directions?

Thanks for sharing!

Great job. It turned out very nice. You are making me feel guilty. I need to get back to my Swedish Weave. I haven't done a thing on it since I left FL.

Lenora...here is a pattern for the waffle looking one. It's a Coats and Clark site. this is for a throw or baby afghan but I am sure it could be adapted to a square.

Lenora, the Coats and Clark link is not exactly it. I learned the pattern from a friend and she doesn't remember the name of it either. Just for a sample: Chain 13. Double in 3rd from chain and all across = 12 dc. Chain 1 and turn. Double in 3rd from hook and in next dc. THEN double in the next two front posts, then regular dc twice, dc front posts for next two, dc regular in next two across. Chain 1 and turn. You can already see the pattern emerge. On the back side the regular doubles are "out" and the front posts are "in". So after you turn, keep the pattern by 2 regular double, then 2 front posts across, matching up with what you see. Its less complicated than the Coats and Clark and makes a nice waffle. No syrup though!
