I'm fairly new and I've been browsing OPEN TALK back a year. There are two women (apparently!) who have expressed being without income or home and having as one of few possessions an old RV which needs repairs. "Desperate" is the word I'd accept as life description....That's the reason I joined this forum. I am the director of a unique national nonprofit org which assists (mainly) women who have "lost" everything and could consider using an RV as a permanent home. I hope that more women who find this forum will feel free to express their desire to follow that option. Almost all of you have RVs and must know at least one person who is in serious trouble, especially in these days when company executives can suddenly become overnight indigents and have NO intention of identifying themselves as "homeless" to government and private agencies. That usually signals a downward spiral in life. There are thousands of women in the U.S. who are living happily in RVs as full-timers...and have become self-sufficient, working from an RV or taking part-time jobs around the country. I'm an expert; I've "been there, done that" (1970s), and have since returned to a major university for a Ph.D. with a dissertation on solutions. I have lots of knowledge, immediate strategies, and resources. I have books that can be found in libraries as well as being part of a web site where women are telling their stories including solutions. Pass the information along, please. I find many women at highway Rest Areas in all kinds of vehicles with all of their belongings...and they are living anonymously while taking advantage of what "rich folk" have while full-timing it. They just use boondocking and other tactics instead of expensive campgrounds. I can be reached while I travel for 6 months of every year at a hotmail address: islandr_2@hotmail.com. (There's an underneath slash between the islandr and the 2.) I'll try to keep looking at this forum for anyone who expresses a need for assistance--for self or another. If allowed by your monitor, I'll also leave the web site where my Weekly Cyberlog will be posted as I travel and relate the personal stories with solutions by women I constantly meet while on the road. It's www.studioclub.com, and you click on WOMEN or LITERATURE for THE UNDETECTABLE HOMELESS. I have been on "60 Minutes" (and other shows), so you'll know that I'm "legit," sell nothing, and just provide assistance in a field where there was and still is no one else to help with the kinds of problems that (usually over 50) middle-class women have who are suddenly without enough income to maintain an accustomed lifestyle while remaining anonymous and pursuing a satisfying new way of living. YOU all enjoy "the road" and traveling. THEY are learning how to do this as well.... :) Peace! A Shadow Woman: Marjorie
