Update - I found a you-tube of a guy changing a wiper motor, all the details including plug it in and turn switch on for a test before you bolt it in - but be sure to turn the switch off because the motor then runs until it is in park position and turns off. If you don't turn wiper switch off, yes, it will be out of position.

I have ordered and received a new wiper motor for my newly purchased 1999 Monaco Exec 40'. Wipers non-functional, had 12V at power at plug so figure motor is shot. New motor from Wexco received, want to check it before I install, a bit hard to get at under the "hood". Will I throw the motor "out of time" if I plug it in without bolting it in to the linkages? Or is motor smart enough to know how to time itself correctly to wiper sweep? Hate to screw up $160 purchase, worse yet find it it is useless due to my actions.

Long time since I posted here. The '98 Bounder has not had many troubles in our ownership.

Harry

Harry - I think you found the simpliest procedure. As you probably noticed, there are quite a few vidios and writeups on changing this motor and suprisingly many say to remove the wiper arms, which are mounted on a splined shaft and can be very difficult to seperate. Plus, that opens the possibility of the linkage moving out of the park position. A word of caution...some of those small motors can generate a lot of torque and jump around if not firmly held or secured. So when testing it, be aware of this. Please let us know how this works out. Good luck. - Dave
