Hello Ole Friends,

Yes, Willie and Betty Sue selected San Antonio because,.....(many reasons), and here we are. Thanks for asking.

We're doing OK, still finding out that we are not as smart as we once thought. Please don't ask me to define 'smart'.

We miss y'all, and we miss our family members(and friends) back in El Paso. We just don't do very many trips over 100 miles. Yes, the ole Dutch Star serves more of a guest house, with full hookups in our backyard.

Yes, there's lots to talk about, BUT, right now I'm going fishing (that's what I do). I will get back to you later (got lots of questions).

Special thanks to John, and thanks to Gary for sending me a pm telling me where you are.

Later,

Willie

Good to hear from you Willie. Libby and I live in Brackettville now at Fort Clark Springs. We have been here since 07. While we still have the Discovery, we don't travel often. We get to SA from time to time, we will have to get with Gene and all get together.
Gene, sorry, I was sure you were in Bandera. Well, close should count anyway!
Dave, good to hear that Jack is still around. A candy factory, go figure.
We last saw Nancy and Pat when we were at the Gold Canyon Rally in 01. We visited with them in BC on our way to Canada in 00 and yes, we knew that Pat was gone. We emailed with Nancy quite regularly until Pat left us. We have just lost touch since then.
We have run across Bill several times, he was the significant other of Melva. I was working a fire with FEMA in Carbon, TX (aptly named for that event) back in 06 when he rolled up in his pickup. Then he stopped by The Ranch in NM one time when we were there. He was heading for CA to look at an old transit bus or something along those lines to convert to an RV.
Of course, as I said earlier, Mike and Linda stopped by here a year or so ago on their trip around the country. Dave was supposed to show up but stiffed us! We are still waiting Dave. You certainly cannot expect anyone to travel to CA to visit. I try to refrain from telling folks I grew up in SoCal!
We would like to get back to the Quartzite convention but I'm having a hard time convincing Libby that there is a good reason to go back to Q. Could have been the cold and dust the last time we were there.
I still tell the story about the round of golf that Rich, Dave and I (and one other whom I simply cannot remember) played in the Rio Grande Valley in 00. A bit of wind, hey Dave. Last year, when we were in FL visiting the grandkids and I was playing (on grass what an experience) one of the guys said "you must be from Texas, always teeing low to stay out of the wind" Its true. We have a par four here on the Fort that I can drive if the wind is behind me!
There are now four of us in the Unit we live in here that used to have or still do have lots at The Ranch in NM. There are two other couples here that used to live there too, so there are really six couples here that we used to hang with in NM.
If I ever get over this FEMA reorganization, Ray, I'll let you know if I get any work. They are adding 3000 more reservists this summer. That will make our group 12,000 strong. They promised at least 30 days a year of deployments. I'm not sure how they are going to do that unless we have lots of natural disasters and to make that promise, they would have to deploy 1000 of us each month. Not likely to happen. I haven't deployed since Hurricane Irene in NC last September, but I am getting more golf in!
Y'all stay safe out there and stop by if you are traveling US 90 in West Texas. We are 30 miles east of Del Rio, and Mexico.

Nice to see we still got some old timers still kickin. I've been away from the internet for a few weeks now. Glad to be back on. Yes, I've still got the wind chime. Some of you may not have heard, I'm can hear now. Had a chochlear implant in '04.Like many of you, we do not travel much anymore. Mostly doing the snowbird thing to Florida every winter for the past 10yrs with Dick & Kay.

We be in Utah right now. But, heading for Wisconsin next week to visit with the kids for a couple weeks. Then on back to Missouri where we have a home on Lake of the Ozarks near Warwaw, MO. I've got 2 RV full hookups behind the garage. 30 & 50 amp. So, if anyone wants to visit, you are always welcome.

Wow, Bill, how could we forget Melva's blue tarps. Since I went to work for FEMA I've seen a lot of those! LOL
I also forgot about the armed chairs but not the blackwater bombs!
