A few weeks ago we were driving our car from Seneca Lake to Keuka Lake (Finger Lakes) on a state rd. Glad we weren't in our RV, as there was no sign to indicate a low cross road and no way to turn around. In all our years of driving, we only came across 1 low bridge with no warning sign. Noticed it in time-I got out to watch the height and we slowly made our way under-by about 3 inches. carold

Whew! I find it hard to believe that you had to get out and watch the clearance while driving a car on a state road. But you were there and I wasn't.

My first 6 months driving big truck long haul I covered 45 of the lowrr 49 and crossed most of candada (mis spelt intenshunally) too.... of course you all know my truck had 13ft 6inch clearance driving thru new york I went under lots of bridges that were marked at 12ft 6 in and some even less.... Those were marked at the edge where the overcross arched downward....

Anyway the easiest thing is getrand McNally usa maps for truck Drivers..... in the front you will find loads of info including lists of low bridges in every state as well as bridge weight limits .... If your going to worry about low bridges you should worry about tiny bridges more... In the back you find mileage from city to city

Is a plethora of info and well worth the 25 bucks or so..... Don't leave home without it
