It must be Spring. I'm heading for Andover, MA on Monday to work the floods up there with FEMA. Can't go in the RV yet. Too far for the time I have to get there and campgrounds are often not open up north yet. I'll check next month and if we are going to be there much longer, I'll fly home and get the rig and drive it back.

John: I'm right next door. The closest RV place is in Salem--city owned, a former CG base--about ten miles from Andover. Called Winter Island. Elec and Water on Site. A County sewer plant is about 1/2 mile away

If you go there, sites 12-16 are right on the water.

Thanks Frank. I thought you might be nearby. I'll be staying at the Residence Inn in Tewksbury until sometime in May. If we go longer there, I'll fly home and get Libby and the rig and RV the cat and drive back up. I'll go look at that campground while I'm up there. Our Joint Field Office is in Andover so I assume its not far from Tewksbury.

Its seven days a week right now but sooner or later I'll get a day off. We will have to get together.

Off on Sundays now Frank. It looks like a group is headed for Salem in a week or so. They want me to accompany them to Boston this weekend but I may pass. I'd like to go check out that campground. Mid May, if we are going to be here long term, I'm flying home to get Libby and the cat and the motorhome and then taking a week to drive back here. Hopefully, I can leave my coat at home!

Heading home on the 12th. I decided not to come back in the RV. Its a long way back up here and I'd have to go faster and farther each day than we like to drive. So, I'll do my 30 days and fly home next week. Lots of disasters all of a sudden after a year of none.

It was almost 90 here today which is interesting since a few days ago it was in the 30s and snowing not all that far north of me.

John,

You may have another disaster in the mid south after the storms and heavy rains down there. We left Alabama a day early on Saturday because of the severe weather forcasts and the lashing they were getting just to the west of us. I really hate to fish during a tornado and lightning makes me nervous, sitting in an aluminum boat with a fishing pole sticking up for an antenna.

John, how good are you at picking up OIL? Might be a long, steady gig for you on the Gulf....and you could stay in good ol' TEXAS!

Yes, I leave here a week from yesterday and fly home. I am not telling our deployment folks I am going home until I get there because I need to keep a doctor appt in San Antonio on Friday the 14th. Then, I suspect I will either go to Arkansas for a tornado, or Tennessee or Kentucky for the flooding. TN is turning into this years Iowa from two summers ago. We are setting up over 50 disaster recovery centers in TN. I only had 46 going at once during Hurricane Ike. FEMA will be there for a long time. Damage assessment is ongoing in KY right now and also in AR. Rumor has it that CT will be getting a second look next week so there is a lot going on right now. We have gone from no work to way too much. It was a quite year for the most part from mid 09 until a few weeks ago. Now all hell has broken loose and folks are suffering.

I won't fly and leave the rig and Lib at home again though. This one has been unusual, I hate hotels and I miss my soul mate!

Heading home in 5 and a wakeup. All I have to do is get through Boston traffic at morning rush hour to get to Logan!

Yes, John-you did get a break last year. But now they'll get their pound of flesh out of you this year, it seems. We left Nashville a couple days before the rains hit and were holed up in Pigeon Forge where it only rained a bit one night while W. Tennessee was getting pelted. We're now leaving Waynesville NC and have enjoyed perfect weather, so have been very fortunate to miss those storms.

You are correct Bob. I got to stay home and play with my radios and RC airplanes and golf clubs for a whole year. But now all hell has broken loose. We have the tornado in MS and the governor there has asked for a second disaster declaration for flooding, a tornado in AL, tornadoes in AR, tornadoes in LA, lots of tornadoes in OK last night, flooding in KY and a massive flood in TN. We are setting up over 50 disaster recovery centers in Tennessee alone.

I fly out of Logan tomorrow morning and will be unavailable until Friday. I have to see the doc in San Antonio after lunch on Friday. Then, I'll go available. I'll likely wind up in OK or AR if those go this week but if not, I suspect a long term deployment in TN or KY might be my summer vacation!

If I go to OK, I think I'll go in our truck. OK this time of year can be tough on RVs. If its east, I suppose we will go in the motorhome. It needs the exercise anyway! Then we can hit Gaffney later for some service work and go on to FL to see the grandkids (and maybe our kids too)

John

still deployed in frosty Massachussetts (but I'm getting real short)
