Will be traveling to Glacier next July and would like some info and advice on available campgrounds in and around the park. We will be traveling in a 36 foot motorhome and need to know what campgrounds will accommodate our rig, which have hookups and which are the most convient.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
thanks mikec

North American Campground. At least I think that's the name of the campground. It's a nice place and the people that run the place are great. We'll be going back there this next summer as we make another try to seeing Glacier. We got run out by a forest fire this year. Nancy A. Cheffings The Gryphon's Lair

North American is nice as Guardian says. Another one that handles big rigs very nicely is the West Glacier KOA. We were there in 2002 Go Big Red

Micke I assume you will be arriving from the East. If so, both CGs mentioned are about the same on the East side. The NA CG is on a hill overlooking ST Marys and the KOA in down the road over a clear stream. Lots of sites in the KOA. There are Federal CGs inside the park but I don't think you can put a 36 footer in one. They are also primative sites. There is another CG just North of ST Marys run by the Indians-- called broken ribs or something like that. It did not look maintained. Nothing longer than a 21 footer can go on the Going to the Sun Road, so you will need a toad or use one of the tour buses. That road is one of those that make your toes curl-- among other things. I also suggest you visit Waterton NP in Alberta just across the border. Very Nice, and they have camping right downtown in Waterton. Although I would recommend that you visit "The Great Canadian RV Resort and Barndance" for a stay, show and feed. Outstanding place. about 30 to 40 miles north of the Border. good roads in Canada. s/Toby

Our favorite is Many Glacier inside the park. 36' is no problem. We've stayed with a 34'plus toad. No hookups, but isn't that why we're "self contained". The campground and the spaces are so beautiful its certianly worth a few days without hookups. Bill Trout
