My husband and I are moving forward on the purchase of an older Class A (1996) RV. We've gone back and forth for about three years, but now that our daughter will be starting college this fall in Montana, we've decided to finally move forward - especially since we have to make the drive from CA to MT twice a year, at least for the next couple of years.
We are a family of six, our other three children are much younger and are excited about our new adventures waiting to happen. We looked into renting an RV to drop our eldest off in August but the cost to rent was incredible, especially since it coincides with Burning Man. Unfortunately, I couldn't justify the expense and someone suggested it might be the time to purchase one instead.
We agreed. So, we are buying an older RV that has been maintained quite well. It's from an older couple who are no longer on the road anymore. We're looking at this as a starter - to get a feel of what we like/don't like and need/don't need when and if we decide to upgrade in a few years.
I'm very excited about our "Mobile Ocean," duly named for the BRIGHT blue interior, and our first trip to Montana in August.
Now that we've taken the big step, it's time to do more research and reading!
