Good call Bob, off to Nashville in the morning. However, US 90 was closed today as we tried to come home from San Antonio. Flooded roadways. Also 173 just south of Hondo. I had to go down I 35 to about a hundred miles north of Laredo and then cut west to US 57 and then north to Uvalde to pick up 90 and get home. I sure hope its ok tomorrow.
We are rolling at O dark 30 because I have to report in Nashville, at 7 am Monday morning. I don't know where I will wind up in TN yet but I am starting in Nashville.

Hey, I was home for two days from the last disaster so its time to head out for the next one.

And now I'm not. This was the shortest deployment I have had with FEMA. I demobilized last Thursday and we are now in NC. It didn't last quite three weeks. Now I am waiting to see if I get sent to the Gulf. There isn't much that I do that applies down there but I've been contacted about heading down that way. We shall see what happens.

Hey John, while you're just sitting around there, why not run up the road to Franklin and check out what's playing at the local new dinner theater in town. When we were there last month they had some name-brand acts coming which we'd have loved to have seen. Also, the local "Fatz" restaurant was first class.

Too late but we did eat at the FATZ restaurant in Blairsville, GA while there. Good groceries.

Now I am on standby for Tropical Storm, soon to be Hurricane Alex. If we deploy to that one, it will be the second hurricane we have worked in the Rio Grande Valley. Dolly was just two summers ago. Geez!

Now I'm heading Brownsville later this week to do PDAs for Hurricane Alex. I don't expect much but one never knows. No rig, its about 6-7 hours down there from our place but no point in taking the rig for a couple of days.

I heard something on the news this morning about the valley getting "50 percent more water" down river when they widen the gates at Amistad and Falcon dams today or tomorrow...I think the river is already about 40+ feet above flood stage down there as it is. You probably should take a canoe, or are those provided by FEMA??!

Take care....

I did damage assessments in Cameron and Hidalgo Counties, basically from Brownsville to McAllen. Not a lot of big time flooding but we couldn't get to some communities down by the river due to high water. When the water goes down, I'm sure we will find a significant number of flooded homes. I was supposed to go to Starr County today but the river is just too high to get in to the impacted areas even in high profile vehicles, so we shut down until the river drops. I won't go back because I have to go to Denton Monday for a class. Someone else will do those. Lots of damage in Laredo though!

Heading for Laredo next week to work the floods along the Rio Grande from Hurricane Alex. No RV parks in Laredo that I would leave Libby in so its a hotel for a few days. Then, after I find out where my recovery center will be, we will see if there is a place to take the motorhome. Laredo is only about 3 hours south of me so I can come home and get the D if the occasion warrants. Film at 11.
