I don't believe using oxygen in an RV would be any different than using it in a car. I've known several people who use the portable oxygen cylinders including one of those little shoulder pack type, I don't recall any problems they've encountered. Now, if you chose to carry some of those small cylinders that use those little carts to move them around. You'll need a safe way to secure them from rolling around while traveling.

My wife is on oxygen 24/7 and when we travel we have a concentrator which runs off the gen set, it also has the home fill system which allows us to refill her oxy canisters. I found a concentrator on Craig's List at a reasonable price and leave it in the motorhome so don't have to lug the one from the house back and forth. Never had any problems but do have no smoking signs.

Grimesy, are the outlets in the motor home heavy enough to handle the concentrator 24/7? I was concerned about this. I thought they may over heat and catch fire. Am I over reacting???? Thanks ro all for all of the help!

Candy - Look at the power requirements for your particular model, and it's probably in the 200 - 300 watt range. This is just a fraction of what your RV's sockets are capable of handling (1800 watts). Your hair dryer probably draws at least 1000 watts. Good luck. - Dave

I want to thank all of you for the help. We are hoping to travel. I am still a little leary of the tanks, but no one is a smoker and I have learned there are portable oxygen concentrators out there, so I am going to try to get my hand on one. I am glad to hear that the concentrator will not draw much amperage and therefore not heat up the outlet.

Mom is 94 and still loves to go. She continues to gain her strength-slowly, but there is progress and for that I am thankful. Our RV is such a blessing. It still permits us to travel. What a fantastic lifestyle it is!!! But, I know you folks feel the same way. I hope to see you down the road!
