I am looking at getting the B&W (Link Below) Companion Gooseneck/5th wheel installed in my 3/4 Chevy. I am looking for the pro's and con's of that system. It is rated to 18k.

Any Comments would be greatly appreciated.

Mike, if you are thinking of a gooseneck hitch for your fifth wheel travel trailer......Think Again!

You DO NOT want a gooseneck for a fifth wheel travel trailer. There are quite a number of reasons not to use a goose neck for anything but a stock trailer. You stand a good chance of cracking the mounting on the trailer. They put way too much stress in a very small area. A semi goes by you on the highway and the trailer will rock like crazy. It's a very unstable setup. The reason they work good for a stock or horse trailer is because the trailer is very low to the ground and the center of gravity is much lower. Get a good Reese fifth wheel hitch. You'll never regret it.

That's what I had in my head (something about single point loading verses stress) but I could find nothing on the internet stating good or bad.

I look at it this way "If the world belives that the distribution of wealth is the answer to our problems then the distribution of weight must be a good thing....otherwise nobody would do it"

Thanks for the help!

I have the B&W with the Companion, and wouldn't have any other hitch. I need my bed flat bed floor to carry a 400 gallon water tank. I have pulled in goose neck trailer in a parade once.

It's easy to remove and install in two pieces even thou you need to loosen the 2 u-blots and the pin. The jaws lock soild and once you pin (or padlock) the are into place your ready to go.
