For our upcoming 6 months motor home trip do we join Good Sams or Passport America. Have researched both and would now like some opinions.

Thanks to those that reply.

We have used Passport America for the past ten years and it has more than paid for itself every year. We belong to Good Sam's but they are only good for 10% off where PA is half price.

In "my"opinion, Bob pretty much told it all. Of course there are lots of "camping or RVing clubs" out there but it's an individuals choice whether to join them or not, the benefits aren't all that rewarding. Most are misconstrued, they aren't an actual "club" per se but rather a group of like minded individuals interested in saving money on whatever expenses they encounter on the road. Escapees is an actual properly functioning RV club, designed and operated by and directly for Rver's both full timers, vacationers and weekenders. Passport America is pretty much solely a discount club for participating members and as Bob indicated it pays for itself over and over. What this boils down too is a person isn't necessarily required nor needs to join an RV club to enjoy traveling in the U.S.

C'mon over and allow us "Colonists" to show you our interesting country.

I'll agree heartily with Bob and Neil. Passport America is the only membership of that kind that consistently pays for itself and then some. Their campgrounds are not everywhere you will want to go, but you should find Passport campgrounds most of the places to which you will be traveling. We plan long trips by always first checking the Passport sites available to us and then filling in with others as needed.

The advice is right on the money.

Passport America, if it has parks in the area of your travel, is well worth the price.

I joined Passport America this time last year for our 6 month tour and found it paid for itself in the first two weeks. However when we reached the west coast we found the PPA campsites very thin on the ground and we then joined Good Sam and it also repaid its membership fee in jig time. Both are well worth the joining. PPA affilliate campsites vary in the way they discount your charge with some giving the full discount 50% on your whole stay and others only granting you discount on only some of your days. Either way you cant lose. If you enjoy the US even half as much as Jackie and I did you will fall in love with the whole experience, enjoy.

I agree with the Irishman and the rest of the board. You'll get a payback in a couple nights with your PPA membership, so it's a no-brainer.

Barb, we just got back Tuesday so are still adjusting to the new time zone (My brain still thinks I'm still in Brissie for some reason). Haven't had time to put a tape on a Four Winds for you, but will get there ASAP. Thanks again for a great day, warm hospitality and the best beer!
