RVA Forums Consolidation

In 1994, when the RVA forum began, we had only one forum which quickly grew to thousands of members and lots of daily activity. Over the years, in an attempt to accommodate different RVing factions, we added additional forums. This seemed like a good idea at the time, but it fragmented our membership and resulted in a lot of little forums with less participation. High gas prices, the economy, and numerous other factors have further diminished the activity on our websites as well as other RVing sites. In an attempt to get back to our "roots" we'd like to make some changes.
In the upcoming weeks we plan to shut down those forums with little or no participation. Hopefully, this will eliminate the frustration of those who post on those forums and don't get a response, as well as simplifying where a posting should be made. It's our intention to end up with a General Forum and a Women's Forum, along with their 9 sub-forums (6 Women’s, 3 General).
We’re committed to growing our RVA community and appreciate your loyalty, cooperation, and support. While change is always difficult, we think this one will be fairly painless.

Sounds like a great idea Dave. I know several of our former regulars have switched to the RV.Net forum. I took a look at that forum yesterday for the first time. I found it to be way to complicated and with too many different forums. I sure hope this consolidation will bring some of those folks back. Good Luck Buddy

I'm willing to go with the flow. What ever makes for conversational topics is good for everyone. It doesn't hurt to know what other folks are doing/thinking/saying on every topic. Makes for a good campfire discussion.

Thanks Frank and Bob. We originally thought of ourselves as a virtual campfire. I think we've learned that one big campfire attracts more RVers than a lot of little fires. Live and learn..

I'm with the others. Over the many years this BBS has worked to hold together a good group of RVers with experience, knowledge, helpfulness, a tolerance for diversity and a sense of humor. We've gotten fragmented and many have wandered off. Let's see how one forum will again serve the community and maintain what we have had in the past.

Howdy:

I agree with the proposed change.

I never seemed to have enuf time to look at all the different forums, so just stayed with the original BBS.

I tried a few times to post on the Ham radio forum, but seldom got an answer.

A lot of our friends are full-timers, but I never had the time to jump over and read that forum.

Sure hope the change brings us back in contact with many of our old-time friends.

(Now if we could only get the current owners to fix the basics (like being able to change your email address in our profiles ....)

Cheers,

s/Mike

I'm all for it, this forum has been a big help to me over the years. I have seen the traffic here drop off every year and couldn't figure it out, so if the changes will help I'm all for it.

On another note, why doesn't the joined date refect when we originally joinded instead of when you make changes?

Looks like the only viable ones are the woman's and the BB. Would have been nice of the old posts from the deleted sections had been made available for at least review.
